짭새. 짭쐐. 경찰을 낮추어 부르는 은어 JJab Sea, Jab-se.
However, it is not used much these days and is only occasionally used as slang in movies and novels.
In Korea, it was once fashionable to create derogatory slang names by adding a “Se 새” ending to a word, such as a photographer being called a “찍새 Zik-se, Zick-Sae” a barber being called a “깍새 Kac Se, Kack -Sae” in the military, or a shoe shiner being called a “딱새 Dkak-sae, Dak-se".
Similarly, police officers are “catchers 잡는 사람” of criminals, hence the word “catch. 잡다 (Jab- Da)” “새 se” to the word ‘catch,’ and it became ”짭새" JJab Sea, Jab-se.
It's unclear where the suffix “-새” came from, but it's short for “새끼" A word used to belittle or insult a young animal or a person.
Several theories include that it was meant to shorten the 'sa' of the person(사람 Sa Ram) doing the work and make it stronger.
